Letter NO. 01 | Kate Hopkins

Kate Hopkins

Kate lives and works in New York City and is currently a member of the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Studio Program. Her watercolors, inspired by the microscopic scales of butterfly wings and the biophilic patterns of nature, are as much about survival as they are about image-making. Rooted in process, repetition, and craft traditions, her work asks profound questions about how creative labor sustains both the individual and the community. Her practice carries the kind of vulnerability, resilience, and care.

I’m honored that Kate’s presence marks the beginning of this dialogue. From here, the archive will continue to grow, one letter at a time.
